How to Support Adrenal Health

The adrenal glands are small but mighty. They produce over 50 hormones essential to our health.

Many factors can affect adrenal health. People who suffer from adrenal fatigue are not only exhausted, but they might also find they have difficulty getting up in the morning, have a low tolerance for stress, or have low blood pressure.

Sounds a little like you or someone you know? Don’t worry; we’re here to help. Here are five ways to improve your symptoms and manage your adrenal fatigue!

1. Prioritize Your Sleep

Sleep is absolutely essential when it comes to stabilizing your adrenal levels. Poor sleep habits can affect your cortisol levels, ultimately leading to adrenal fatigue.

Aim for a consistent eight hours of quality sleep every night to see improvement not just in your adrenal health but in all areas of life.

2. Order a Lab Test

Getting a lab test will help you get clear data on what your problems are. Measure your cortisol levels at various points throughout the day to get to the root of your problem.

Adrenal fatigue can look different on different people. A comprehensive test is one way to pinpoint the uniqueness of your condition.

3. The Right Supplements Can Help

Supplementing with B vitamins, magnesium, and vitamin C can help cure adrenal fatigue. Alternatively, you could also tweak your diet to include foods like whole grains, dark leafy vegetables, lentils, citrus fruits, seeds, nutritional yeast, and broccoli.

A good quality multivitamin can go a long way in meeting nutritional deficiencies in your diet.

4. Say No to Processed Foods

Simultaneously, you also want to avoid processed foods. Aim for whole foods, organic vegetables, and a diet that is devoid of deep-fried, fizzy, two-minute meals.

Say no to alcohol and caffeine, but yes to regular, home-cooked meals. Make sure to include healthy fats and protein-rich foods in every meal. Avocados, nuts, beans, chickpeas, grass-fed beef, lean poultry, oysters, and salmon are great options.

5. Make Relaxation a Part of Your Day

Your stress isn’t doing you or your adrenal health any favors. So take some time out of your day to unwind, relax and calm down those nerves.

You could do this by having a laidback conversation with a friend, engaging in a fun hobby, or just taking a walk around your neighborhood. Meditating is also a great way to reduce anxiety or at the very least make it more manageable.

If you’re really struggling with your mental health, don’t be afraid to talk to a therapist or a psychiatrist to get the help you need.

Adrenal Health Matters

Managing your adrenal health involves a few simple but effective lifestyle changes. So be sure to get in your eight hours of sleep, eat a balanced and healthy diet, relax, and take your vitamins.
